New river pilot in development

Producten en oplossingen updates

The traditional U-lectern has been a frequently seen arrangement on the bridge of inland vessels for years. Due to the possibilities that have arisen through the application of new techniques and products, variants have arisen in recent years. Alphatron Marine is at the forefront of the latest developments, but never loses sight of the legislation. One of the newest products that will soon be on display in the lectern of inland vessels is a new river pilot. Service Engineer Tom de Nooijer explains what is so groundbreaking about this AlphaRiverPilot MFS.

“To be innovative, you don't have to reinvent the wheel,” Tom de Nooijer starts his story. “You usually get more done by improving an existing product. Of course from different points of view. From the customer: How can we improve the functionality? But also from an engineering perspective: How can we make the product more accessible?” As a Service Engineer I have experience in installing and repairing the river pilot on board,” continues Tom. “That experience helps in the innovation process. Even more important, however, is the feedback from customers and dealers. Comments from end users not only relate to the functionality of the product, but also to the appearance and ease of use.” “The current river pilot is still a good product, but it is reaching its limit. For example, this version has no internet ports and expansion is difficult or costs too much. In addition, the cabinet is difficult to reach for our engineers,” explains Tom de Nooijer. The new AlphaRiverPilot MFS is literally and figuratively more accessible. Easier to install, but also very accessible for updates. In addition, this river pilot can be linked to multiple devices. Features are also being expanded. That doesn't mean either the AlphaRiverTrackPilot or the compass, but both options are possible. A link to a new product is really only a matter of a software update with this river pilot. “And, it comes in the new Alphatron Marine style to match the JMR-611 radar and Conning, with a resistive touchscreen with a controller and buttons added for easy operation. If you are curious, you don't have to wait long. The new AlphaRiverPilot MFS will be presented at the Maritime Industry exhibition in Gorinchem,” says Tom de Nooijer.
