Manager Training

Monique Scholten

I started sailing as trainee at Shell Tankers, got my B.Sc. in navigation and became second navigation officer at Rotterdam Ship Management on chemical tankers.

After that I started a career ashore so I could have a family and keep on working at the same time. In various companies I learned all kinds of professions, from purchase, work preparation, sales and steering a little team of artisans in the marble and granite business. Eventually I became lecturer at the merchant navy school STC in Rotterdam. To do that I had to get my B.Ed. besides teaching the young men and women who wanted to sail as well. So back to school for me as well!

In 2015 there was a job opening at Alphatron Marine for operational trainer. In that function I was able to combine all my previous experiences in work, teaching, sailing, ships and equipment. For me it’s a dream job and now the natural next step is being the manager of our training department. With our strong team we are ready to raise the bar to a higher level.
