Space-saving Dynamic Positioning system by Navis

10 February 2014

In the Navis NavDP 4000 Dynamic Positioning systems, the Remote Manual Thruster Controls, the Main Engine Alarm & Monitoring system and the autopilot are all integrated. This saves both space and cabling as well as offers the end user a single point of contact whenever the system requires service and engineering support.

The NavDP 4000 is particularly suited to ships with limited space in the navigation console. So Alphatron Marine has been commissioned by the De Hoop shipyard to supply the Navis DP system for seven new hybrid Fast Supply Vessels (YN 453- YN 459) of the Mexican company Oceanografia. Alphatron is also supplying the complete navigation and communication package for these ships. The Fast Supply Vessels will come into service during the second part of 2014 in the Gulf of Mexico to get personnel and cargo as fast as possible to and from drilling platforms or ships. The project is a logical follow-on of the successful delivery of a similar package on board the KISS Platform Supply Vessels NB 432-435 for Oceanografia. User-friendly operation Since the different vessel control systems are integrated, no separate control & display units are needed in the already very full console on a Fast Supply Vessel. This is achieved via the user-friendly LCD touchscreens. Where there are specific user DP requirements, Navis is always prepared to collaborate, within the applicable regulations.
